About Andrea (Can Candrea)
Queen of Can-Can
Andrea has been in the world of dance since the age of four when she began studying classical ballet, tap, and then jazz. Her creativity was so apparent and impressive that Andrea was asked to choreograph a solo performance for a dance recital at only age five. Thereafter, she was participating in the gifted student classes. During college, Andrea studied hip-hop and modern dance to further her dance education. In 2002, Andrea began studying Egyptian style Bellydance under the world renowned Jasmin Jahal in Chicago, IL. Subsequently, Andrea began studying with Christina King in 2003 where she was then introduced to Tribal style Bellydance. Both styles mesmerize Andrea; Tribal for its strength and improvisational techniques and Egyptian for the elegant and intricate layers which make it so unique. In 2005, Andrea became a member of Blue Lotus Tribe and a principle dancer in 2007. In 2011 she became one of the directors and assists in coordinating Blue Lotus Tribes grand event Tribal Revolution.
In 2010 Andrea began to recognize the benefits of the French Can-Can dance. The Can-Can is a complimentary workout to Bellydance. Her interest in the Can-Can grew due to the desire to get more cardio and tone the legs. Also, to create a Can-Can workout for the average person to experience this fun energetic dance form by simplifying the movements. Bellydance is best at toning the upper body and hips, and the Can- Can is more aerobic and a showcase for the legs.
Andrea is also AFAA certified (Aerobics & Fitness Association of America) she wants to help lead, inspire, energize, and achieve participants personal goals
